Voltage regulation


The method to change the stator voltage of motor to achieve speed regulation is called voltage regulation. For single-phase motor, it can be a certain value between 0~220V; for three-phase motor, it can be a certain value between 0~380V. If the transformer is used for voltage regulation, if the voltage regulation of the transformer is graded, the speed regulation of the motor is also graded, if the voltage regulation of the transformer is stepless, then the speed regulation of the motor is also stepless.

Advantages.

The differential energy generated in the speed regulation process can be fed back and used. High efficiency; the capacity of the device is proportional to the speed regulation range, suitable for 70% to 95% of the speed regulation.

Disadvantages.

Low power factor, harmonic interference, no braking torque during normal operation, suitable for single quadrant operation of the load.

Variable pole speed control


Change the wiring of the motor stator winding to change the number of magnetic poles of the motor, so that the synchronous speed can be changed in a graded manner to realize the graded speed regulation of the motor. This kind of speed control motor is available in fixed series, such as single winding multi-speed motor.

Advantages.

No additional differential loss, high efficiency; simple control circuit, easy maintenance, low price; with stator voltage regulation or electromagnetic differential clutch can get smooth speed regulation with high efficiency.

Disadvantages.

Stepped speed regulation, can not achieve stepless smooth speed regulation. And due to the limitations of the motor structure and manufacturing process, usually only 2 to 3 kinds of pole pairs of graded speed regulation, speed range is quite limited.

Electromagnetic speed control


The method of speed regulation by electromagnetic differential clutch is called electromagnetic speed regulation. Electromagnetic asynchronous motor (commonly known as slip motor) is a simple and reliable AC stepless speed control device. The motor adopts a combined structure, consisting of a drag motor, an electromagnetic differential clutch and a speed measuring generator, etc. The speed measuring generator is used as a speed feedback signal source for controlling this. The stepless speed control of this type of motor is realized by the electromagnetic differential clutch.

Advantages.

Simple structure, small capacity of control device, cheap value. Reliable operation, easy maintenance, no harmonic interference.

Disadvantages.

Large speed loss, because the electromagnetic differential clutch itself has a large differential rotation, so the maximum speed of the output shaft is only 80% to 90% of the motor synchronous transit; the differential rotation power is all converted into heat loss during the speed regulation process, so the efficiency is low.
